Low-cost grain storage on the farm

In spring 1986, the Agrarian Information Council of the European Community set the maximum moisture content of grain for intervention at 15 %. At the same time, the intervention price was reduced by 5 %. Because of this, drying and storing grain on the farm have to be reconsidered by many farmers. The technical possibilities, advantages and disadvantages of various storage methods are reported about.
