Performance of associations of Desmodium canum/Brachiaria spp. in the Oxisol savannas of Colombia

Field plots were sown with mixtures of Desmodium ovalifolium or D. canum and a companion grass Brachiaria brizantha or B. humidicola. D. ovalifolium content in the mixtures containing it declined to almost nil due to nematode attack. D. canum combined effectively with the two aggressive and high-yielding Brachiaria grasses. The highest yields of the legume were recorded in association with B. brizantha
