On the relation between abundance and flight activity in carabid beetles from a heavily grazed pasture
1986
Desender, K.
In this communication data are presented concerning absolute abundance, soil surface activity and flight activity of carabid beetles in a heavily grazed pasture. During a two year cycle intensive sampling was therefore performed by means of different techniques. Maximal yearly abundance values are rather high and reach values from 1 to 17 individuals per meter square according to the species concerned. Flight activity on the other hand only occurred occasionally and the relative amount of flight activity per unit of soil surface activity was negatively related to estimated abundances
