Studies on the effect of seed treatment by gamma irradiation on growth, sex expression and fruit of sweet gourd

Vine length, leaf and node number of plant increased with the increase of radiation doses. Vine length, node and leaf number were maximum in 5000R whereas the highest number of branches, female flower and percentage of female flower were in 1000R. The ratio of female to male flower was lowest in 1000R. Appearance of the Ist flower which generally was male and that of female flower were found at the lowest node number from base in 500R. Maximum number of fruit set per plant was found in 1000R.
