Grapevines were regenerated within 4-8 months from shoot tip explants including the meristem and 1-3 leafprimordia. As yet, 30 different cultivars of scions and stocks and of that, 40 different clones could be propagated by this method. Grapevines deriving from virusinfected motherplants showed no symptoms of virus infection after 2 partially 3 years. The elimination of nepoviruses (FV, RRV, AMV, ToBRV, SLRV) and grapevine leafroll seems to be possible by the kind of in vitro culture without additional steps as chemo-or thermotherapy. Practical applications for this method could be the cultivation of healthy mother vines or the propagation of new varieties
