Studies on daily gain, carcass composition and feed efficiency at different growing-fattening periods and the optimum marketing weight in Korean Native Bulls

This experiment was carried out to investigate the optimum market weight of Korean Native Bull at different growing-fattening periods. Bulls were raised in pen barns (5 bulls per pen) and fed concentrates and roughages ad libitum, and marked at four different body weight (350, 450, 550 or 650kg). As the market weight increased, average daily gain decreased (1.04, 1.03, 1.01 and 0.98kg, respectively) and nutrient requirements (per 1 kg gain) increased as the ma1635rket weight increased (4.51, 4.97, 5.62 and 6.21 kg respectively in T.D.N). As market weight increased, carcass percentage gradually increased (57.2, 59.6, 61.3 and 63.7 %, respectively) but retailed cuts percentage decreased (63.4, 63.1, 62.4 and 59.3 %). Fat percentage of carcass abruptly increased when the bulls weighed more than 550kg.
