To find out the response of non-seasonal heading and the variation of some characteristics of two very early maturing rice varieties, Chiagbyeo and Sobaegbyeo which were often grown for double cropping with cash crops, the present experiment was carried out in the rice research facility of Kyongbuk Provincial Rural Development Administration from 1983 to 1984. The non-seasonal heading occurred when the accumulated temperature at nursery duration was over 900 deg C, and increased with higher seedling rate and longer nursery duration. Deeper transplanting1539and high seedling number per hill also tend to enhance the non-seasonal heading ratio. Longer covered-period of polyethylene film at nursery increased the non-seasonal heading ratio, and the optimum covering date of polyethylene film was found by May 10th. The non-seasonal heading prolonged the days to heading and heading duration, resulting decrease the grain yield due to poor fertility and low 1,000 grain wei
