The effect of moisture content and storage material on the keeping quality of onion [Philippines]
1984
Pelayo, N.U.
A significant effect on storage materials on the percent of sprouted and rotted bulbs was obtained. The incidence of sprouting and rotting was higher in the acacia leaves, control, and rice hull with moisture range of 75-85 than in sawdust. Although no significant interaction effect was noted between the storage media and moisture ranges, the data suggested that the onion bulbs with relatively low moisture content could be stored in any storage medium provided that the environment is not conducive for respiration
