1985
Valerio, T.E. | Villavieja, G.M. | Domdom, A.C.
Results show that remarkable increases in the number of households participating in the various intervention when comparing survey data for 1978 and 1982. Except in Nutrition Information and Education program and Family Planning, household participants were mostly from the rural sector, in the bottom 30% income group, with bigger family size, with meal planners having lower education levels, and with household heads engaged in farming or fishing. The effects of these programs was more pronounced among the middle 65% income group of households accompanied by significant dietary status improvement among participating households in this than other income groups. Positive effects of participation were evident on the adequacy levels for some nutrients specifically for Domestic Food Production, Agricultural Development, Operation Timbang, Food Assistance and Income Generating Programs. These findings could serve as a basis for evaluating the Philippine Food and Nutrition Program and the formulation and modification of appropriate nutrition interventions.
