The acarids, beside insects, belong to the most important pests of ornamental trees and shrubs in the urban plantations. Among many acarid groups the most important are those from the families Tetranychidae and Eriophyidae. Eotetranychus tiliarum is a serious pest of lime-trees. From many gale mite species the Eriophyes tiliae occurring on lime-trees, the E. piri, occurring mainly on ornamental pears, and other species are discussed
