Building of a dam across the river Tisa near Novi Becej (SFRY) brought about, apart from water-course attenuation, the influence of the attenuation on the riverine. Having in mind how the left riverine upstream of the dam is built up at present, a possible influence of the attenuation is performed through groundwater regime. The analyses of the groundwater regime performed in the period August 1975 - December 1981 did not reveal the tendency of increased influence of the Tisa attenuation on the groundwater regime over time. A new water table regime with a more uniform water exchange between the Tisa and its groundwater and higher average inflows was established and it was compensated for with increased losses on evapotranspiration.
