Bioassay experiments were conducted to evaluate the effect of sulfur dioxide on animals, in terms of LD 50 values, by using mice (Mus musculus) of rockeller strain. Results indicated that both dose of waste gas and exposure time significantly affected mortality rate, and the amount of destroyed red blood cells. It took younger mice lesser time to show mortality effect than the older ones, but, the impairment of red blood cells are relatively the same.
