Effects of Gibberellic acid, Cycocel and Nitrogen levels on the yield and quality of egg plants

This study was carried out to examine the effects of gibberellic acid (GA3) and cycocel (CCC) at concentrations of 100 and 200 ppm of each on the yield quality and quantity of egg plants, which were fertilized with 0 20 30 and 40 Kg nitrogen / donum. No significant effect of the growth regulators were observed on the total yield per unit area (donum) and per plant, fruit number per plant and average fruit weight. Nitrogen levels increased total yield per unit area and per plant, fruit number and average fruit weight up to 30Kg N/ donum significantly, no significant interaction was found between the growth regulators and nitrogen levels on the fruit yield except that of cycocel and 40Kg N/ donum. GA3 increased the fruit length with out real effect on the fruit diameter, while cycocel had the opposite effect in this regard. Nitrogen levels increased the fruit diameter and the number of the seeds per fruit, no significant effects of GA3 and CCC were noted on the chemical characteristics of the fruits, while nitrogen levels increased the percentage of proteins in the fruit with no significant effects on the other fruit characteristics, also no significant interaction was found between the growth regulators and nitrogen levels on the physical and chemical characteristics of the fruits
