Sources of some elements in Iraqi beers

This paper reports the levels of Na, Ca, Zn, Cu, Fe, Cd, Pb, and Cr in Iraq beers. The average of these metals in mg/L are as follows: Sodium 83.7, Calcium 74.5, Zinc 0.1, Copper 0.12, Iron 0.12, Manganese 0.15, for Lead, Cadmium, Chromium are less than 0.04. Malts and Hops show a relatively high level of Iron, Zinc and Lead. Considerable amounts of Cu, Fe and Zn found in yeast which indicated the picking up of these metals as a results of fermentation. The results on the spinted grain indicated a high level of trace metals which originally present in the malts
