Grain protein content of some high-yielding rice varieties at different levels of nitrogen fertilizer
1986
Anwar, E.K. (Balai Penelitian Tanaman Pangan Bogor (Indonesia))
A field experiment and a laboratory test has been conducted in Muara Experiment Farm and agronomy laboratory Bogor Research Institute for Food Crops (BORIF), during 1984/85 wet season to study the effect of nitrogen fertilizer on the grain protein conten of some high-yielding rice varieties. The design used tent of some high-yielding rice varieties. The design used was a split plot design with three replications for the field experiment and with two replications for laboratory test. Four levels of nitrogen as the main factor whereas the subplot factor was 16 high yielding rice varieties/lines. The result showed that nitrogen fertilization tend to increase protein content of the grain and increased protein yield per hectare significantly. Protein content of B435g- Pn-2, Cisadane, B4368f-Mr-13-3 was around 8 percent. It has been found that correlation between grain and protein yield was positive but not for grain yield and protein content correlation.
