The resistance of pink snow mould (Gerlachia nivalis) and eyespot (Pseudocercosporella herpotrichoides) to benzimidazole fungicides and of barley loose smut (Ustilago nuda) to carboxamide fungicides can be overcome by the use of fungicides with different modes of action. However, a serious problem is the decline in sensitivity of wheat and barley powdery mildew (Erysiphe graminis) to demethylation inhibitor fungicides. Strategies to combat this problem are discussed
