Utilization of gamma-rays and acriflavine for the induction of useful genetic variability faba bean [Egypt]
1988
Kash, K.S. (Mansoura Univ. (Egypt). Faculty of Agriculture)
Air dried seeds of two faba bean varieties Romi (V. Kobrosy) and Giza 3 were irradiated with gamma ray doses of 0, 5, 10, and 15 Kr. For acriflavine treatments, air dried seeds were submerged in the three concentrations of acriflavine 0,05 and 0.1%. In addition, combined treatments of gamma irridiated seeds of two varieties were treated with acriflavine solutions. Untreated seed lots from each variety were used as controls. In this investigation a number of economic traits were studied. These traits were: plant height (cm), number of branches, number of pods per plant, number of seeds per plant, seed weight per plant (g) seed index (g) and variability percentage
