New tactics in rabbit war
1990
About 750,000 ha of the South Island of New Zealand have come under a new rabbit and land management programme funded by the government. The success of the programme centres on the co-operation between land holders, soil experts and pest officers in developing property plans covering land use, land management and how this can be used to control rabbits. It is envisaged that greater impact from poisoning will be achieved by creating barriers with rabbit-proof fencing and the development of land unsuitable for rabbits
