Lignification of grapevine grown on different stocks
1991

In connection with the study of frost-hardiness we followed the time of beginning, rate of development and the final state of shoot lignification in the new Czechoslovak variety Mopr during its growing on ten, mainly new, clones and crossbreds of stocks and in Mueller-Thurgau on five ones in 1988 and 1989. The results indicate that the shoot lignification is influenced by the year (the state of health, temperature within the whole year) and by the variety rather than by the stock. The time of the beginning of lignification was approximately similar in each variety grown on all stocks. The rate of development of lignification was affected by the used stocks to a lesser, but in each year different, extent. Also the stocks, on which varieties showed in the end of vegetation the best and the worst state of lignification, were in each year different. The Mopr variety reached a higher, than average state of lignification in both examined year on the following stocks: K1, K1 x SO 4 108/49 and Schw. 3/f, the Mueller-Thurgau reached a higher state of lignification on Vitis berlandieri x (V. rupestris x V. cinerea) 10/19 and 5 C Znojmo.
