The egg, larval, pupal and adult survivorship and fertility of adult of the oil palm pollinator, Elaeidobius kamerunicus Faust were measured under laboratory and field conditions. Life tables for the weevil were constructed and presented. The larval stage suffered the highest (60 percent) mortality, especially the second and third instar larva. The mean total generation mortality was ca. 94 per cent. The intrinsic rate of natural increase, on a daily basis was 0.085. The generation time, T, was 15.4 days; net reproductive rate, was 3.46 and the doubling time was 8.32 days. The mean number of eggs produced per female was 35. The sex ratio was 1:2 (male: female). A laboratory technique of rearing the immature stages of the weevil and field caging method of collecting the eggs were developed and used in the study. The results of the study confirmed that the weevil which was imported from Africa in 1981 has a high rate of multiplication and has adepted very well in the new environment. The weevil is now well established throughout Malaysia and is an efficient pollinator of the oil palm.
