Suitability of different types of cattle for large-scale production
1991
Botto, V. (Vysoka Skola Polnohospodarska, Nitra (CSFR))
Milk production and reproductive characteristics of cows of different genotypes: crossbred cows SR 25 per cent, SR 50 per cent, SN 50 per cent and SN 75 per cent (S - slovak Pied, R - Red Holstein-Friesian, N - Black Pied Lowland) were evaluated on two farms (farm with loose housing for 900 cows and farm with tie stalls for 350 cows) over the year 1988. The results indicate that all genotypes had the significantly lower milk production on the farm with loose housing; in the different genotypes (with various blood proportions) housed in the same housing system there were no significant differences in milk performance; evaluation of SN and SR crossbred cows in dependence on the system of housing indicated the higher milk production of the SN crossbreds in the two systems of housing.
