Herbicide-use in corn: in 1991 without atrazine still with problems - what could be learnt out of this for 1992?

For regulation of harmful weeds and grasses in corn it also means to applicate: the right active ingredient - in right combination - in necessary concentration - in right time, to get a successful control. This is possible with the available compounds - even after drop of atrazine. This year 1991 has proved this, though, particularly with problems. These problems are solvable, but especially the farmers have to examine the use of herbicides also in consideration of ecological aspect more intensively, supported by advisory services. On one hand thereby it is possible to increase efficacy and economy, on the other hand unnecessary and superelevated applications can be avoided. Only this guarantees, that the available compounds can be preserved
