1991
Infortuno, A.E.
Results of the study showed that Ri-10 obtained the best response on the application of POT 4 [package of technology] in terms of bi-weekly rate of growth (16.53 cms.), number of tillers per square meter (801.10 tillers/sq m), weight of one thousand filled grains (26.83 g), yield of one square meter plot (804.20 grams of sample yield/sq m), actual yield per plot (3.62 kg/plot), projected yield per hectare (6,029.20 kg/ha), net income (P19,304.59), rate of return on investment (128%), and marginal income (P3.19/kg of produced palay). IR-74 variety outranked the two other varieties in responding to the application of POT 3 in terms of number of panicles per square meter with 619.1 panicles and the cheapest cost of production of P14,680.64. On the mean final height at maturity taken during the flowering stage, it was IR-72 that gave the tallest plant with a mean of 93.08 cm. When it comes to POT effects as applied to modern rice varieties, POT 1 outranked the other package of technology in terms of bi-weekly rate of growth with a mean of 16.51 cms. On the final height at flowering stage, POT 1 and POT 2 obtained a similar means of 92-97 cm. Considering the cheapest cost of production per hectare, POT 3 was on top with P13,653.22.
