Computerized model for predicting water satisfaction index and yield reduction index of crops planted in Bicol region [Philippines]
1990
Borja, G.C.
This investigation revealed the following: 1. Except in Masbate [Philippines] the total rainfall amounts during the growing period was greater than the seasonal crop water requirement; 2. Based from the simulation in four weather stations, the higher the water satisfaction index, there was a corresponding decrease in percent yield. For all the four weather stations, thirty six simulation were done for rice and corn crops. The results showed that for both rice and corn crops, the peak month for land preparation is September, wherein the highest percentage of soil moisture satisfaction index will be met, with the least percentage in yield reduction index. However, in Masbate where rainfall is a limiting constraint for rice production, calculation show that irrigation is highly needed in the area for rice production to be profitable.
