[Gloriabamba: a successful bean variety]
1990
General characteristics of the Peruvian highlands and the importance of beans in the diet of small farmers of the region are described. The adoption of var. Gloriabamba (introduced by CIAT) is highlighted and its major agronomic characters are described; data on production increases obtained in 3 bean producing provinces (Cajabamba, Chota, and Santa Cruz) of Peru, are given. In spite of var. grain color and size, which differ from market's choice, producers offset this disadvantage by selling beans in fresh form
