Influence of cutting and soil treatment on currant fertility

The influence of cutting and soil treatment on the fertility of black, red and white currant varieties cultivated at the VUOOD Institute in Bojnice (SR, CSFR) was examined. Based on the result the optimum agrotechnical measures for the tested cultivars could be recommended. From the black currants, 'Otelo' was found as optimum; the most fertile red varieties were 'Detvan' and 'Tatran' reaching approximately identical yield levels. From the white varieties, 'Primus' and 'Blanka' cultivars were similar in yields, while the BO-71 hybrid showed valuable properties with its late maturity date.
