Down stream wood based industry will play a very important role in Indonesian economy in the next few years. To support this development, a study on basic properties of Indonesian timber is badly needed. This paper presents a review of some work on the anatomy, structure, physical, mechanical and chemical properties, and the properties of reconstituted boards made from some dipterocarp species.
