The study of price policy and marketing in association with self sufficiency of clove in Indonesia aims at (1) understanding the chance of clove self support at exiting technology level and package of policy; (2) understanding the scope of Keppres (President Device) No. 8, 1980 upon the marketing of domestic clove; (3) seeing whether basic price is relevant to clove industry in Indonesia. This study was based on supporting data using various methods of analysis. To understand the opportunity of self support of clove a method of linear trend projection was used and for the aspect Keppres No. 8 tabulation method, while the relevancy of basic price was analysed with absolute benefit method. The study showed that (1) the opportunity for self sufficiency of clove in unlikely to reach under present existing technology and policy, because the replanting of cloves is not sufficient to cover dead ones due to pests; (2) Keppres No. 8 has only very small affect on the management of marketing of domestic harvest (25 percent) while the role of public auction becomes dominant which was 85 percent in 1987; (3) basic price of clove is not sufficient for the farmers, therefore it should be increased from Rp. 6.500 to Rp. 7.532/kg.
