Among the constraints which should be addressed are low genetic potential of indigenous breeds, inconsistent availability of high quality feeds, lack of adequate health services, credit facilities and extension services. The author suggests the formation of a Poultry Association of Malawi to bring together producers, policy makers and retail outlets having as one objective appropriate policy formulation.
