Weibull diameter distribution for yield estimation of Paraserianthes falcataria (L.) Nielsen plantations in the Paper Industries Corporation of the Philippines, Bislig, Surigao del Sur
1992
Montero, R.C.
The two-parameter Weibull density function was used to fit the diameter distribution of Paraserianthes falcataria (L.) Nielsen with ages 1 to 11 years. Basic information in the development of the function were purposively taken from plots established and measured in the plantations of the Paper Industries Corporation of the Philippines (PICOP) in Bislig, Surigao del Sur. Results showed goodness-of-fit using the chi-square test between the predicted and actual number of trees per hectare for all ages studied. Based on the Weibull parameter estimators generated, stand models appropriate for P. falcataria stands in the PICOP area were developed. These models were validated using an independent data set from the same site. Yield estimations by DBH-TH class using an existing tree volume equation were done for P. falcataria plantations in PICOP.
