Yield and seasonal composition of essential oil from berries and leaves of Juniperus phoenicea L. [in Tuscany]

English. The berries and leaves of Juniperus phenicea L. from Maremma, Tuscany, were investigated for seasonal yield and composition of the essential oil. The essential oil extracted from berries showed the maximum content of oxygenated compound during the spring-summer period. The same trend was found in the essential oil extracted from leaves, even though the yield in essential oil was always lower and the content of oxygenated compounds was always higher in comparison with the berries. Among the oxygenated compounds present in the essential oil of leaves, 1,8-cineole is very well represented expecially in the fall-winter period. Show more [+] Less [-]Italian. Furono eseguite analisi stagionali sulla resa e composizione dell'olio essenziale di galbule e foglie di Juniperus phoenicea L. della Maremma toscana. Per l'olio di galbule si ha il massimo contenuto in composti ossigenati nel periodo primaverile estivo, mentre quello di foglie e' piu' ricco in tali composti e presenta, nel contenuto, andamento analogo al primo. L'olio di foglia e' particolarmente ricco di ossigenati e fra questi si evidenzia il cineolo, che raggiunge il suo massimo contenuto nel periodo autunno-inverno. Considerata la composizione dei due olii se ne prospetta l'utilizzazione per la produzione di chemicals
