The results of a survey for viruses infecting Diplotaxis erucoides DC in Apulia (Southern Italy) have shown this weed is infected latently by four viruses: pelargonium zonate spot (PZSV), cucumber mosaic (CMV), tobacco rattle (TRV) and unidentified closterovirus referred to as Diplotaxis closterovirus (DCV), with a relative incidence of 65%, 2%, 4% and 56%, respectively. Symptom-showing plants were infected by turnip mosaic (tuMV) and radish mosaic (RaMV) viruses, with an incidence of 28% and 17%, respectively. D. erucoides DC represents a major reservoir of plant pathogenic viruses

Un'indagine eseguita in Puglia in 16 diversi campi ha mostrato che Diplotaxis erucoides DC, un infestante autunno-primaverile assai diffusa, soggiace a frequenti infezioni virali. Da piante asintomatiche sono stati isolati nel 65% dei casi il virus della maculatura zonata del geranio (PZSV), nel 56% un closterovirus non identificato, nel 2% il virus del mosaico del cetriolo (CMV) e nel 4% il virus del "rattle" del tabacco (TRV). I virus del mosaico della rapa (TuMV) e del mosaico del ravanello (RaMV), sono stati ritrovati in piante con sintomi con percentuali d'infezione del 28% e 17% rispettivamente.
