German. Vom 2.-9. Dezember 1990 fand in Christchurch auf der Suedinsel von Neuseeland der 20. Internationale Ornithologische Kongress statt. Nach einer im Anschluss an den Kongress durchgefuehrten Reise durch das Land resuemiert der Autor, dass viele Arten der zum grossen Teil in Neuseeland endemischen Landvoegel seit der menschlichen Besiedlung vor ca. 1200 Jahren durch die Maoris bzw. durch die Ansiedlung der Europaeer z.T. stark dezimiert, z.T. ausgestorben sind. Allgemein konstant sind die Bestaende der Seevoegel. Der Artikel enthaelt eine Aufstellung der in Neuseeland endemischen Vogelarten und -unterarten sowie im Forschungsinstitut Senckenberg vorhandener Exemplare.
