Isolation of the phytotoxic and biotoxic components in waste waters from olive oil processing. Their oxydation by means of the peroxidase + H2O2 system. Plant growth and biodegradability studies [Liguria, Umbria]

Having previously oxydized by enzymatic means (peroxydase + H2O2) waste waters from olive oil processing, we aimed at isolating the phytotyoxic and biotoxic components or classes of components present in these waste waters. A suitable isolation technique is developed. The phytotoxicity and the biotoxicity are respectively measured by growth trials (on salad seeds) and BOD5/COD ratio measurements. The isolated components were individually oxydized with the peroxidase + H2O2 system. The phytotoxic and biotoxic measurements were repeated for each of the oxydized fractions and compared with the previous measurements. GC-MS analyses of the isolated components before and after the oxydative treatment were performed and speculations were made, based also on the previous phyto-and biotoxic measurements, on the least one of the present phytotoxic elements

A seguito di ossidazioni fatte sulle acque di vegetazione (AV) con il sistema perossidasi + H2O2, si e' mirato ad isolare le componenti o almeno le classi di componenti fito e biotossiche presenti nelle acque di vegetazione (AV) di un frantoio ligure e di uno umbro. Si e' sviluppata una tecnica valida per isolare le varie classi di composti. La fitotossicita' e la biotossicita' sono state misurate rispettivamente con prove di germogliazione su semi di rucola e tramite la misura del rapporto BOD5/COD. Le classi di composti isolate sono state individualmente ossidate con il sistema enzimatico perossidasi + H2O2. Le misure di fitotossicita' e di biotossicita' sono state rimisurate per ognuna delle classi isolate e i risultati paragonati con le prove precedenti. E' stata effettuata un'analisi GC-MS delle componenti isolate prima e dopo il trattamento ossidativo ed in base ai risultati delle prove precedenti si e' potuto speculare su almeno uno degli elementi responsabili della fitotossicita' delle AV
