Build-up and partitioning of dry-matter and yield of faba bean genotypes of differing plant type

Experiments were conducted during 1982/83, 1983/84 and 1985/86 seasons to investigate pattern of dry-matter production and partitioning and its relationship to yield in indeterminate, determinate and IVS faba bean plant types. Indeterminate faba beans produced larger PAI, intercepted high amount of radiation and produced more dry matter than determinate and IVS lines. Proportion of assimilate partitioned in different plant parts were similar but the mechanism differred. Indeterminate ILB 1814 out yielded determinate line in 1982/83 and 1983/84 but gave comparible seed yield to determinate line (FLIP-84-230) in 1985/86.
