Ecological aspects of pheromone communication of leafrollers and spatial distribution of species

Spatial distribution, daily and season dynamics of flight of leafrollers Archips podana (Sc.) Laspeyresia pomonella (L.) and Pandemis heparana (Den. et Schiff.) in biotope of fruit garden have been studied. It was shown, that while carrying out their reproductive behaviour these species come into collision in real spatial-temporal dimension. In this case, sex pheromones may appear as an important ecological factor of environment. The reproductive behaviour of A. podana males was not inhibited by odour of the sex pheromone of L. pomonella, and, moreover, it raised the searching activity of individuals. Positive correlation of an increase in quantity of A. podana has been noted at a rise of quantity of L. pomonella. The process was carried out only in the presence of highly-dense population of L. pomonella. Positive influence of the pheromone background created by individuals of the species upon the activity of males of another species in searching their own females, depended on the stability of the environment conditions. The rise of the heterogeneity of the surroundings, for example, at the edge of the territory of the fruit garden decreased the effect of interaction. The pheromone of P. heparana was inhibited in the presence of pheromones of other species in the air. Due to this, the species was in the inhibited state in the territories under study, and in order to maintain the possibility of hemocommunication, it displaced activity time in season and within twenty-four hours
