The biological characteristics of plants and the silage fermentation

The action of homo- and heterofermentative lactic acid bacteria and saharo-and proteolyctic clostridia in silages is shown and their requirements are stressed. The actions of coliform bacteria, fungi and propionic acid bacteria are mentioned as well. The composition and quantity of water soluble carbohydrates in grass, legumes and maize are given and factors which influence their content are shown. Data on cellulose and hemicelluloses in the samples of slovenian origin are given, too. The actions of plant enzymes are shown
