[The results of a three year research (1986-1988) at Panico farm (Caserta), on six year old cherry trees grown with phytoregulators, showed a double positive effect: growth control and increase of blossoming, that is of the productive potential. As far as the vegetative activity is concerned, the prolonged PCL (Paclobutrazol) activity can cause problems. In fact a strict control preventing vegetation renewal can cause early ageing of plants, affecting negatively the quantitative and qualitative aspects of production. Further tests are necessary in order to obtain the authorization for the two products in Italy]

[Il triennio di prova (1986-1988) su piante di ciliegio di sei anni allevate a palmetta con l'utilizzo di fitoregolatori nell'azienda Panico (Caserta) ha mostrato un duplice aspetto positivo: controllo della crescita e incremento dell'entita' delle fioriture e, di conseguenza, della produttivita' potenziale. Per quanto riguarda il controllo della attivita' vegetativa, la prolungata influenza del Paclobutrazolo (PCL) puo' creare problemi. Infatti un controllo molto spinto, impedendo il rinnovarsi della vegetazione, puo' provocare un invecchiamento precoce delle piante, che si ripercuote negativamente sugli aspetti quanti-qualitativi della produzione.
