English. Varroa jacobsoni Oud. population decreases in chemically treated bee hives. The results obtained by means of different acaricides in groups of hives with brood are reported. The decrease of Varroa jacobsoni Oud. populations was quantified. Fluvalinate and coumaphos diminished them to about 50% in eight days. Conversely, amitraz was less effective against varroasis in the first days after the treatment. It is concluded that the period involved in diminishing of parasite number is very important, because a sudden reduction of varroa populations in a short period will allow a better and faster colony development
