In separate experiments, single implantations of zeranol to steers grazing Mitchell grasslands, and of oestradiol beta to steers in Channel-country pastures, were each found to improve productivity in terms of daily liveweight gain. No significant changes in carcase quality or in the incidence of hormone-induced abnormalities were observed.
