Comparative rates of sodium and chloride accumulations, as well as the sensitivity of CO2 assimilation to high concentrations of these ions is dependent on the type of rootstock. Foliar sodium content appears to be more important than chloride content in decreasing net CO2 assimilation and carboxylation efficiency.
