The threat of rabies introduction and establishment in Australia
1993
Forman, A.J. (Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation, Geelong (Australia). Australian Animal Health Lab.)
The potential for rabies to enter and establish in Australia is reviewed in the light of recent overseas research. Possibly the only realistic risk is the introduction of a dog-adapted virus, perhaps from and Asian urban rabies cycle, entering in a dog that came into contact with wild or feral dogs. Australian preparedness for rabies is discussed.
