Survival rates and post-operative complications after equine colic surgery

A retrospective analysis of the 74 cases of equine colic that underwent surgery shows a disappointingly low survival rate, in both short and long term with a significantly poorer survival rate of horses with small intestinal lesions than of those with large intestinal lesions.
