Insecticide protectants for oilseeds in storage [sunflower]

Presents the results of the project which had two phases: a survey of infestations in oilseed storages, and an assessment of effectiveness of candidate protectants in small scale trials. A variety of insects were detected in both farm and commercial storage of sunflower, with varying degrees of resistance to different protectants. The laboratory assays and small-scale trials have established the effectiveness and limitations of individual protectants, and form the basis of future silo trials with methoprene and other protectants. Further development of protectants for oilseeds is proposed in another project.
