A feeding experiment comparing the commercially produced pelleted feed PD-2 for marketable rainbow trout with German pelleted feed "Alma Forellenfutter 45" was performed on rainbow trout of 75 g initial weight within 84 days. Mean water temperature during the experiment was 8.3 degrees C, dissolved oxygen content was 8.4 mg 02.l-1 and oxygen saturation ranged in 76.6 - 98 %. The highest relative weight gain was found in rainbow trout yearlings fed with Alma feed (21.55 vs. 16.69 %) as well as in four exterior traits. Within the experimental group Alma, the following biochemical parameters in blood plasma were significantly and highly significantly higher: creatinine level (32 vs. 23 micro mol.l-1) and ureic acid (163.5 vs. 73.7 micro mol.l-1), respectively. The K+, Cl- a Na+ levels in blood plasma were also significantly higher within the Alma group. The more favourable productive and biological effectiveness of the Alma feed is supposed due to higher energetic value caused by substantially higher share of lipids (14 vs. 3.8 %).
