Zoophagous beetles (Carabus auronitens Fabricuis, Coleoptera, Carabidae) and phytophagous walking sticks (Carausius morosus Br., Phasmida, Bacteriidae) were kept for 2 - 3 months on a Cd and Pb enriched diet. Individual tissue analysis (Graphit-furnace AAS) showed increased heavy metal concentrations in almost all organs. Both species accumulated most of the Cd and the Pb in the intestinal wall and in the malpighian tubules. The contamination of cuticula and gonads was negligible. Cd was usually accumulated with higher factors than Pb
