A genetic basis for male sterility in kikuyu grass
1986
Piggot, G.J. | Morgan, H.M. (New Zealand Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, Whangarei. Agricultural Research Div.)
Evidence from controlled crosses suggests that male sterility associated with non-exsertion of stamens is controlled by a single dominant gene, with fertility (exsertion of stamens) being recessive. This influences the spread of Pennisetum clandestinum and the ways in which the genetic merit of indigenous pastures can be upgraded.
