Gives the results of a project aimed to formulate guidelines for the appropriate management of native grass pastures on the central and southern tablelands of New South Wales. The current status of native grasses was evaluated from a survey. Distribution of the more favoured species was greater than expected and many sites were dominated by these species. Implementation of management strategies to increase the proportion of these native grasses in mixed pasture communities proved difficult in the short term, but was moderately successful at one site. The information collected has been widely disseminated and promoted to landholders.
