Government of Victoria submission to the Prices Surveillance Authority (PSA) - inquiry into the prices of farm chemicals

Information is given on the Victorian Department of Agriculture's regulatory activities and research and extension programmes designed to improve the efficiency of use of farm chemicals. Comments are made on the National Registration Scheme and related control-of-use issues. Transfer of responsibility for the registration of farm chemicals to the Commonwealth Government should result in a more efficient and timely registration system. Victoria believes that a farm chemical should be able to be used for any off-label use, provided that there is no prohibition and no Maximum Residue Limit is exceeded.
