A pot experiment has been conducted at greenhouse Center for The Application of Isotope and Radiation, BATAN, to study effect of several kinds of animal manure application on the N uptake by corn plant use 15N isotope as a tracer. The experiment was arranged in a Completely Randomized Design with 6 replications, it consisted of 6 treatments i.e. labelled urea applied without any animal manure application (as a control), labelled urea applied with cow manure, labelled urea applied with sheep manure, labelled urea applied with chicken manure, labelled urea applied with buffalo manure, and labelled urea applied with human faeces. Arjuno variety of corn seed was planted in this experiment and harvested at one month after planting. The result obtained of this experiment were commonly the animal manure application increased plant dry weight at one month after planting and the chicken manure application gave the highest yield of plant dry weight, total-N uptake, percentage of N-derived from fertilizer, fertilizer N-uptake, and efficiency fertilizer-N uptake. In the contrary, the buffalo manure application decreased efficiency of fertilizer-N uptake by corn plant.

Telah dilakukan sebuah percobaan pot di rumah kaca Pusat Aplikasi Isotop dan Radiasi, BATAN, untuk mempelajari pengaruh pemberian berbagai jenis pupuk kandang terhadap serapan hara N oleh tanaman jagung dengan menggunakan isotop 15N sebagai perunut. Percobaan disusun menurut Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan 6 kali ulangan yang terdiri dari 6 perlakuan, yaitu pemupukan dengan urea bertanda 15N tanpa pupuk kandang (sebagai kontrol), pemupukan dengan urea bertanda 15N + kotoran sapi, pemupukan urea bertanda 15N + kotoran kambing, pemupukan urea bertanda 15N + kotoran ayam, pemupukan urea bertanda 15N + kotoran kerbau, dan pemupukan urea bertanda 15N + tinja. Benih jagung varietas Arjuno ditanam pada percobaan ini dan dipanen setelah berumur 1 bulan untuk dianalisis hasil dan unsur N. Dari percobaan ini diperoleh hasil bahwa pemberian pupuk kandang pada umumnya meningkatkan bobot kering tanaman jagung dan pemberian pupuk kandang dari kotoran ayam memberikan hasil yang paling tinggi berupa bobot kering tanaman, serapan N-total, persen serapan N-pupuk, serapan N-pupuk, dan efisiensi penggunaan N-pupuk oleh tanaman jagung. Sebaliknya pemberian pupuk kandang dari kotoran kerbau menurunkan efisiensi penggunaan N-pupuk oleh tanaman jagung yang berumur 1 bulan.
